Editorial take

The set-up has a built-in engine. The stakes are spelled out, so each night shift is a decision about whether to push on them, and the rookie’s career is the cost of every answer. A dare from the very person the rule protects is a more interesting pressure than a secret kept from outsiders.

What I cannot tell from a synopsis is whether the series lets the rule matter, or drops it by the third episode. A prohibition that vanishes quickly would waste the best thing about it. The free pair should answer that.

My test is simple: does episode 2 still treat the rule as dangerous? If it does, I am staying for the rest of the shift.
